A Window into Painting: Exhibition of Artistic Works

On June 05th, the University of Azuay, together with its Department of Culture, held the "Living Art" exhibition at the Esquila de las Artes (Shearing Hall of Arts), a project sponsored by the University of Azuay Painting Club. This event is in line with the Sustainable Development Goals.
The event was attended by authorities, administrative staff, and students from our university community, artists who exhibited their works, and the general public.
The event began with a musical performance by the Cuenca Symphony Orchestra.
The welcoming remarks were delivered by Genoveva Malo, Academic Vice-Rector of the University of Azuay, who emphasized the importance of the space as an ideal setting for the inauguration of the exhibition presented by the artists. She noted that this exhibition reveals the essence of humanity and art, an art capable of easing the burdens of everyday life and allowing for the sincere expression of the heart and the senses.
For his part, José Sanmartín, director of the UDA Painting Club, addressed those present and expressed that this space transcends the physical, as it encompasses a profound interaction of the soul. He noted that each work reflects the members' personal memories, captured authentically on canvas. He also emphasized that art, in its essence, is an admirable manifestation of the human being.
Afterwards, the students presented a gift to the club director as a token of gratitude and recognition for his work.
Finally, Luz María Crespo, director of the Esquina de las Artes Cultural Center, noted that the exhibition caught her attention because of the love and dedication reflected in each piece. She mentioned that it was a pleasure to meet each member of the club and its leader, and extended an invitation to continue participating in these cultural spaces.
Following the opening ceremony, attendees toured the exhibition and enjoyed an evening enriched by art and painting.
