The event was organized by the Continuing Education Department of the Universidad del Azuay and the Higher Technology in Storage and Distribution Logistics career.

The invited speaker was Marcos Escobedo, specialist in manufacturing processes and president of the Association for Overseas Technical Cooperation and Sustainable Partnerships (AOTS), Mexico.

According to Escobedo, “the method Hoshin Kanric it is a work system that is based on the deployment of policies or guidelines that guide the company to achieve a goal ”, therefore,“ it is an effective planning methodology, which aims to generate a competitive organization ”.

During the conference, Escobedo explained that this method is based on "the PDCA cycle, that is, on the planning, execution, verification and action cycle"

In the first stage "the objectives, strategies, action plans and control indicators are established." In the execution stage, teamwork is encouraged and collaborators are trained. In the verification stage, the result is monitored and problems, deviations or opportunities are detected; and finally, action is taken to drive continuous improvement and innovation.

To conclude, Escobedo pointed out: "The hoshin kanri is a tool that helps all levels of the organizational structure align and become involved with the goals and objectives established by the company."
