An "appetizer" to get a taste of Philosophy

On January 19 and January 20, through the digital platform Zoom, a course was held on keys to communicate persuasive arguments strategically.

The event, registered within the framework of the Open Chair of Philosophy at the University of Azuay, was led by the Catalan professor Javier Eladio Guzmán, and served as an introduction to the Master in Philosophy that the University is offering.

"It is a kind of appetizer to start liking reflection on the art of living, which is precisely philosophy, the possibility of reflecting on the art of living," said the Rector, Francisco Salgado.

Dr. Salgado recalled that the UDA was born 52 years ago as a Philosophy teaching institute.

Later, Catalina Serrano, Director of the Postgraduate Department, welcomed each registered teacher and indicated: "This is the moment when we begin to think, we begin to change the world and our country, our city needs people to reflect."

Diego Jadán, creator of the Master, added that “philosophy is a point of view, above all, a type of knowledge where we can have a philosophical point of view and I think these two years are going to be very interesting for all teachers because we are going to meet many points of view from people with very different backgrounds and at the same time all with a common concern ”.

Javier Eladio Guzmán, the speaker, is a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Barcelona and has a PhD in Linguistics from the University of Córdoba. He has written the books "Art as knowledge" (2011) and "The dream is life" (2020). It also has a channel on philosophy on the YouTube digital platform.

The professor will be part of the Master's Degree in Philosophy and the Open Chair of Philosophy.

“I am very motivated in a collaborative presence in this master's degree because what I have investigated has a place or fits perfectly with the general guidelines of this master's degree. UNESCO says that philosophy is that necessary instrument to face current problems in the world with respect and dialogue ”, he concluded.
