UDA launches "5.0 K Ruta de los Ríos"

The 29 of April to the 11h00 in the Hall of Sessions of the University Council was the launching of the second athletic competition of the University of Azuay called "5.0 K Route of the Rivers".

The UDA has 6.000 students, 400 teachers and 200 people in the administrative area, approximately, so it is expected a massive participation that exceeds the concurrence of the first test, in the 2017 year.

The inscription has a value of 5 dollars: it includes event t-shirt, medal and snack. Those interested can register in the offices of the Student Federation (UDAFE), the Sports Association of students (ADEUDA), or online through https://www.uazuay.edu.ec/ until May 16.

In addition, the authorities of the University will draw two full scholarships for students of the Universidad del Azuay (one for a man and one for a woman) after the event, when all the participants of the race have crossed the finish line.

Francisco Salgado, Rector of the University, highlighted the role of the students behind this initiative and recalled that "they have carried the name of the University in the interuniversity tournaments high, which shows that, in effect, young people have sports as a fundamental activity to raise your spirit ".

"We have wonderful rivers in Cuenca, which is a privilege that few cities have. That's why the name of the Route of the Rivers in the event, "added the Rector.

For her part, Pia Bravo, president of ADEUDA, added: “We want this career to be institutionalized and organized every year with the encouragement of the students, that is why now we extend the invitation to both administrative staff, teachers and students to that we show the affection that our University has ”.

The President of UDAFE, Mateo González, expressed his wish that the event "be clearly from our University so that all of us can participate".

Likewise, the President of the Organizing Committee, Franklin Bucheli, invited the entire university community and said: "This contest is not competition but is more recreation, integration to fraternize with the entire UDA family."

The race will be on Saturday 18 in May starting at 08h00. The athletic route will start at the Faculty of Medicine (Hospital del Río) and will end at the central campus of the UDA, located at Av. 24 de Mayo and Hernán Malo.

The route is intended to integrate university campuses (Hospital del Rio campus and the central campus). The first three winners in each category will have a medal and a trophy.

There are 7 categories divided into female and male:

For students it is divided into:

• Junior -Up to the 20 years-
• Senior-From 21 years onwards-
• Disabled - no age limit.

For teachers and administrators:

• Master A -Up to the 45 years-
• Eternal youth - From the 46 to the 55 years-
• Dinosaurs-From the 56 years and up.

And for graduates of the University of Azuay there is no age limit.

The category of athletes with disabilities, both men and women, will depart at 7h45. While the other categories will start at 8h00. The first supply will be in the 3 kilometer, that is, in the circle of Av Max Uhle, at the height of the Manuela Garaicoa School, and the second supply will be in the central campus.

Security will be provided by the National Police throughout the entire journey. Traffic control and road closure will be in charge of the EMOV EP. For the prevention and relief will be supported by the Red Cross and Brigade of the UDA. And the compliance of the route by the athletes will be in charge of the body of judges and timekeepers of ADEUDA.
