UDA presents study at international conference on urban transport in Rome

The professor of the Faculty of Science and Technology Daniel Cordero presented a work developed by ERGON (Center of Research and Development in Automotive Engineering of the University of Azuay) in the thirteenth International Conference on Urban Transport and Environment that took place in Rome, Italy, from the 5 to the 7 in September.

The conference, organized by the Institute of Technology of Wessex -United Kingdom- and the University "La Sapienza" of Rome- brought together researchers from some 25 countries of the 5 continents and the papers presented are indexed in prestigious databases such as: Thomson Reuters Web of Science, Google Scholar, Scopus and ProQuest.

The UDA teacher's study is entitled "Proposal of selection criteria for obtaining driving cycles, using minimum weighted differences" and also had the participation of a student of the Master's Degree in Vehicle Systems, Danilo Dávalos.

"The proposed methodology evaluates the energy demanded by the vehicle to overcome the drag force (Fd), the rolling resistance (Rx), the inertia (Ri) and the resistance due to the slope (Rg). This study was conducted in our city, using a taxi to collect 512 trips on 30 days of testing, "Cordero said.

The teacher added that from the research a typical driving cycle was obtained, which includes an altitude profile; With this cycle, future research on the performance of vehicles in our city can be carried out.
