UDA free from violence against women

On September 23, an event was organized in the Central Auditorium of the University of Azuay in order to officially accredit the University as an institution free of violence against women.

"We at the University live what we want society to live, for this reason we must understand the enormous importance that women can be safe, can be fully realized, can flourish without fear," said Francisco Salgado, Rector of the UDA.

Later, Martha Cobos, Academic Vice Chancellor, said that “it is not about changing others, but about changing ourselves; being involved in a culture of violence, we all have many prejudices and the important thing is to identify in ourselves those things that are maintaining this culture and to keep changing, as well as to invite the rest to change as well ”.

Finally, Viviana Maldonado, Director of the GIZ Cooperation “Woman” project, congratulated the University for its work against violence against women:

“For me it is a satisfaction, because it is the second university in the country that achieves this accreditation and in a much more complete way because it has integrated its students. It is a great achievement and a great step ”.

The UDA received a plaque stating the following:

"The prevention of violence against women program, implemented by the GIZ Cooperation in Ecuador, delivers this present certificate to the University of Azuay for having approved the online certification course as a safe and violence-free university against women."
