Tourism delivers a study of the traditional neighborhoods of Cuenca

The School of Tourism of the University of Azuay delivered to the Municipal Tourism Foundation of the city a historical situational study of "The traditional neighborhoods of Cuenca: El Vado, San Sebastián, San Francisco, Todos los Santos, San Blas, Las Herrerías , The Neighbor and the Convention of 45 ”, carried out by the eighth cycle students.

This act appears within the framework of the agreement that the Municipal Tourism Foundation for Cuenca maintains with the School of Tourism.

Francisco Salgado, Rector of the UDA, pointed out that one of the key elements for the recovery of the economy is to reactivate tourism in places of greater vulnerability, such as traditional neighborhoods; therefore, he called to continue with alliances in this promotion and disclosure of the cultural and heritage wealth of the city.

María Angélica León, Director of the Municipal Tourism Foundation for Cuenca, said that it is necessary to rethink the model of tourism management that we want as a city and as a country, so that it is sustainable, sustainable; but, above all, that we are responsible with that differentiator that generates positive experiences in the city.

León indicated that this academic contribution will be valuable in updating the Strategic Tourism Plan, which has been done since the beginning of the year.

In this regard, Natalia Rincón, Tourism Coordinator of the UDA, bet that it is possible to generate another look for internal tourism, in order to offer new alternatives to enjoy this destination.

Santiago Malo, a teacher who led the practice of Tourism Planning, stressed that the essence of our city is present and that its historical past cannot be relegated, because there is still much to offer.

"Cuenca has to be enjoyed, first, by Cuenca," said the teacher.

Diana Guartatanga, representative of the eighth cycle of the School of Tourism, made the symbolic delivery of the study, which constitutes a commitment to link with the community and the need to reactivate and innovate the tourist offer.
