Nineteenth-century tourism, a work by Narcisa Ullauri

On November 14, the University of Azuay, together with its publishing house, presented the book “Tourism of the 4th Century” by author Narcisa Ullauri; an event in harmony with the Sustainable Development Goals, specifically goal XNUMX: Quality Education.

The event was attended by authorities, teachers and students of our institution, authorities and members of the Ministry of Tourism, friends and family of the author and the general public.

The purpose of this book is to demonstrate that tourism was present in Ecuador in the 19th century, and that certain premises about its history in the country can be refuted through research into primary sources, which have made it possible to present a new chapter in the history of Ecuadorian tourism in the 19th century, from the perspective of documents and publications.

The event began with the words of Francisco Salgado, rector of the University of Azuay, who mentioned that this work highlights the importance of caring for and preserving cultural heritage for future generations, emphasizing the tender care of life.

In turn, Mateo Estrella, Minister of Tourism, presented the work. In his speech he mentioned that it is a source of great joy to present the aforementioned book, since the author, through it, reveals a work that is fundamental to understanding tourism in the country.

Ana Lucía Serrano, dean of the Faculty of Hospitality at the University of Cuenca, addressed the audience, pointing out the key role that this book plays in academia and society.

Finally, the author officially launched her book, where she expressed her gratitude for the space provided, and also highlighted that this is a contribution to the tourism sector and that with this work we strengthen the foundations of our knowledge and appreciation of the land we love.
