Academic and socialization workshops with CES and CEAACES

Academic and socialization workshops with CES and CEAACES

The 4 and 5 of September the University of Azuay hosted two workshops: the first was a space to analyze research and links with society as essential parts of university life; the second, the socialization of the proposed reform of the Career and Ladder Regulations of the Professor and Researcher of the Higher Education System.

Mauro Cerbino, Counselor and President of the Quality Assurance Committee of the Council for the Evaluation, Accreditation and Quality Assurance of Higher Education (CEAACES) participated in the first workshop, highlighting the importance of research and links:

"The objective is very simple to say, very difficult to fulfill, and it is that it is necessary to consolidate a greater academic discussion around the issues that interest the institutions of higher education, what they do can not be exclusively based on the process of learning, that is very little, research and others should be a means to reach many people to discuss reality. "

The vice-rector for research at the UDA, Ing. Jacinto Guillén, commented that the event was held to hear the position and approach of Dr. Cervino:

"It is transmitting to us the new conditions of the new model of university evaluation, also dialoguing about the topic of research and linkage. We are working on being a good university and if we are we will have the right indicators ".

The second workshop was attended by Marco Navas, member of the Council of Higher Education (CES), who presented the proposal for the reform of the Career and Ladder Regulations of the Professor and Researcher of the Higher Education System.

During this workshop, different groups analyzed specific topics: the first one discussed the new academic categories and the contest of merits and opposition; the second discussed the level of career ladder, the time dedication, the duration of contracts, retirement, evaluation, promotion and recategorization and revaluation; the third group was dedicated to salaries and the previous level.

"They are complex and necessary regulations, both regime and academic, and must be processed in an appropriate way, the contribution of all of us for this construction of norms is of great value," concluded Dr. Navas.
