Symposium of the Doctoral Program in Renewable Natural Resources

On May 09, the University of Azuay, together with the University of Cuenca, held the Doctoral Program Symposium on Renewable Natural Resources, an event in line with the Sustainable Development Goals.

The event was attended by authorities, faculty, and students from our university community, officials and members of the University of Cuenca, members of the organizing committee, and the general public.

The interuniversity doctoral program in Renewable Natural Resources, offered by the University of Azuay and the University of Cuenca, has achieved academic, research, and regional development complementarity. Today's symposium discusses topics in the doctoral program's three research areas: water resources, renewable energy, and biodiversity.

The event began with remarks from Francisco Salgado, rector of the University of Azuay, who mentioned the utmost importance of creating spaces for sharing and enriching knowledge. He also noted that research is a fundamental part of academia and that through it, we can make significant contributions to society.

In turn, Raffaella Ansaloni, vice-rector for research, addressed the audience, explaining the doctoral program in more detail and highlighting the efforts and dedication of each of the researchers.

For her part, Monse Jerves, vice-rector for research and innovation at the University of Cuenca, highlighted the importance of this program as a tool for addressing the challenges of today's world and contributing to the sustainable development of our environment.

Once the presentations were over, keynote lectures were given by Rubén Bastantes, professor and researcher at Yachay Tech University, and Jaime Martí, professor and researcher at the Ikiam Amazon Regional University.
