Solemn Session in commemoration of Teachers' Day and inauguration of the Claudio Malo and Mario Jaramillo Halls
On April 10, the University of Azuay held a solemn session commemorating Teachers' Day and the inauguration of the Claudio Malo and Mario Jaramillo Halls; an event in line with the Sustainable Development Goals.
The event was attended by authorities, faculty and administrative staff from our university community, family and friends of the honorees, and the general public.
The event began with the inauguration of the Claudio Malo Hall, located in the Faculty of Philosophy and Human Sciences. Francisco Salgado, Rector of the University of Azuay, addressed the audience, highlighting the importance of paying tribute to Claudio Malo, a fundamental figure in the history of the University. He also noted that the growth and consolidation of the institution have been possible thanks to his vision and commitment.
Afterward, the audience made their way to the Mario Jaramillo Hall, located in the Faculty of Business Administration. There, our Rector emphasized that Mario Jaramillo has been one of the pillars of the University of Azuay, recognizing him as a fundamental founder. He noted that, thanks to his vision and wisdom, he transformed a university that operated primarily at night into one of the best in the country, and that with more than twenty years of service, his legacy continues to inspire the university community.
Once the rooms were inaugurated, the Solemn Session began to commemorate Teachers' Day.
The welcoming remarks at this event were delivered by Francisco Salgado, who emphasized the importance of paying tribute to all the faculty members of the university community. He congratulated the professors for putting their heart and soul into each of their duties and for fulfilling their vocation to educate young people. In this regard, he emphasized that all of us who are part of the university are teachers, as we serve students to support their development.
After his speech, a gift was presented to those who have been part of our institution for 25 years of teaching service.
Finally, Danilo Minga, representing the honorees, addressed the audience, expressing his pride and gratitude for speaking on behalf of his colleagues who are celebrating 25 years of service. He stated that each of them has a story worth telling, as these 25 years represent the construction of an academic life serving the growth of the university community.
Afterward, attendees headed to the Faculty of Design, Architecture, and Art to inaugurate its new garden; the principal authorities proceeded with the symbolic ribbon-cutting ceremony.
