Seminar on Philosophy and Education

Seminar on Philosophy and Education

Between the 6 and the November 8 the Philosophy and Education seminar took place at the Faculty of Philosophy, within the framework of the Permanent Symposium of the University of Azuay.

The teacher training course was raised from the need to reflect on education, since teachers have to be professionals and not technicians who apply recipes.

The lecturer was Professor Neldo Candelero, PhD in Humanities and Arts with a major in Philosophy from the National University of Rosario, Argentina.

The topics analyzed were the ways of knowing in the times of Christianity, the birth of "modern" ways of knowing, Enlightenment and Positivism, Pragmatism and knowledge as a ´cognitive instrument` and Hermeneutics with its “interpretation” and "De-concealment".

"As the word says: it was about philosophy in education. What was done inside the seminar is to take a tour of the different ways of thinking, but, above all, the intention was to move the floor to the teachers, take us out of our comfort zone and start thinking a bit about what the alternatives are as teachers that we can propose to present a new education, "explained Diana Lee Rodas, Subdecana de Filosofía.

"A student who does not ask is a student who does not build knowledge, comfortable students, not interested in knowing," Candelero said during the training and concluded:

"You think and want to know when you do not understand something and not understand that something hurts."
