The rights of the LGBTI population in Ecuador are debated in the UDA

This October 3 took place in the Universidad del Azuay a socialization of the Electoral Political Analysis Gazette N ° 18: "Democracy and rights of the LGBTI population in Ecuador". This socialization and discussion was in charge of the School of Law of the University and the Institute of Democracy Zonal Coordination Azuay.

The event was attended by Ana María Bustos, Coordinator of the Law School; Pedro José Urgilés, official of the Democracy Institute; José Pesántez, lawyer of the Provincial Delegation of Azuay of the National Electoral Council (CNE); Jorge Luis Betancourt, representative of the LGBTI collective and Mercy Galarza, lawyer of the National Electoral Council (CNE).

Ana María Bustos inaugurated the event by emphasizing how transcendental this type of meeting means for the Law School, mainly with students who are at the beginning of their professional training, to guarantee social cohesion and an inclusive culture that respects rights of all.

"We have a firm commitment to a democratic society, free and essentially respectful of people in all their dimensions," said Bustos.

Then it was the turn of Pedro José Urgilés, who made a brief introduction to the "Electoral Political Analysis Gazette", a means of opinion that seeks to disseminate current issues from the opinion of Ecuadorian society, supporting itself with the Political Organizations of Ecuador as It is the CNE (National Electoral Council).

On this occasion the edition N ° 18 "Democracy and rights of the LGBTI population in Ecuador" was presented, which shows the results of an arduous investigation based on surveys, conversations, focus groups and socializations.  

"We are not a group but a population like everyone else", said Jorge Luis Betancourt, representative of the LGBTI collective, a phrase that gave way to the interaction of the students who raised their concerns to the exhibitors.
