On September 27, in an effort to raise awareness about the global climate situation and delve deeper into the El Niño phenomenon, the Permanent Symposium on the University received Rodney Martínez Güingla, renowned expert and representative of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) for North America, Central America and the Caribbean through a virtual conference in the General Auditorium.

In his speech, the expert emphasized the urgent need to address the global climate situation and its consequences in the most affected regions. He explained how the El Niño phenomenon is a natural weather pattern, it can further worsen the effects of climate change, causing droughts, floods and climate disruptions.
