Daya Magazine: "5 years of shared knowledge"

On July 7, the Faculty of Design, Architecture and Art - together with the Publishing House of the University of Azuay - presented the tenth edition of DAYA magazine, in addition to celebrating its 5 years of experience in academic publications.

The event was attended by authorities such as Rector Francisco Salgado; the Dean of the Faculty, Genoveva Malo; María del Carmen Trelles, Director of DAYA; Giovanny Delgado, Co-Director, and -from Mexico- Ana Margarita Ávila, teacher at the Autonomous University of San Luis Potosí, representative of the journal's scientific committee.

"This is a moment of great celebration for the University, for the Faculty, for DAYA, as it reaches its fifth year, strictly fulfilling the criteria that a magazine at the level of the world should have," said Salgado in his speech.

The magazine Diseño, Arquitectura y Arte was born five years ago as a great dream of a team of professors from our university who “managed to enthuse more people, more colleagues to undertake the challenge of thinking about design, thinking about art, thinking about architecture. and to write with the commitment to share, build and open new paths for knowledge and contribute to the development of science ”, stated the Dean.

What began in 2016 with academic writings by designers, architects and artists of the city, now has the collaboration of national and Latin American authors that consequently has allowed the magazine to have a great impact at the regional level and in various international academic networks.

Giovanni Delgado pointed out that two years ago DAYA magazine was indexed and, since issue number 7, 60% of the articles written are external to the university, and currently it has favorable statistics for entering international virtual newspaper libraries with the greatest impact Scielo , Ebsco and Scopus.

“If we see DAYA magazine from abroad, we cannot stop thinking about the strong presence in Spanish-language magazines whose purpose is to spread the culture of design,” concluded Ana Margarita Ávila from Mexico.
