Reforms to the company law

On January 14, the Commercial Law Chair of the Universidad del Azuay School of Law organized an event to discuss reforms to the Companies Law that is in force in Ecuador.

José Chalco, Dean of the Faculty of Legal Sciences, gave a short introduction and thanked the main guests for the event. The first guest to speak was Assemblyman Esteban Albornoz, who affirmed that the legislation must be modernized and updated according to the new demands of the companies.

Albornoz also commented on how difficult it was for companies to stay afloat due to the current situation that the world has been going through since last year and ended his presentation saying that it is a great step for the country to have faced these so necessary reforms that are in force. since December 10 of last year.

Then it was the turn of Carlos Arízaga, government advisor and president of the stock market, who agreed with Albornoz on the need for reforms due to the current situation caused by the pandemic.

"The reforms have allowed an update to the companies that was already extremely necessary for their development in the near and distant future," stated Arízaga.  

The last speaker was Esteban Ortiz, who said that "2020 is a year zero for the law, we are going through times that change the direction and vision of companies in an exponential way."

The event culminated with a round of questions to the guests by those attending the event.
