Recognition of Design work

Recognition of Design work

On Thursday, January 14, the 2020 Design, Architecture and Art Recognition event was held in the auditorium of the University of Azuay, to highlight the projects that have been carried out within this Faculty to support health personnel in the pandemic .

Francisco Salgado, Rector of the University of Azuay, welcomed everyone present and thanked those honored for their work and effort:

"They have been able to contribute to making people's lives better, they have been able to contribute their ideas so that other people can enjoy what the world of design, architecture and art means," said the Rector and added:

"The projects they carried out at DISLAB and TEXLAB are impressively useful and surely could have contributed to saving many lives."

The Rector also granted recognition to the book "1947", which was presented in the week to commemorate the independence of Cuenca, which won an award at the biennial in the city of Quito.

Then, Genoveva Malo, Dean of the Faculty of Design, Architecture and Art, emphasized the commitment of teachers and students, “because with their actions they remind us of our essence and our reason for being, the same ones that were able to show themselves and empower yourself beyond adversity ”.

Malo also mentioned the contributions and achievements of our academic community, which have filled the Faculty of Design, Architecture and Art with pride.

The Dean discussed the design of the face shields and masks; the booths for taking samples that allowed close attention to the people who needed it most, and of various projects such as the alcohol dispensers that are located around the campus.

Like the Rector, Genoveva Malo recognized the 1947 book, "a project that links research, academia and society."

Subsequently, the agreements were delivered to the projects, which were received by each of the members of the DISLAB, TEXLAB and Construcciones teams, who designed these supplies and devices to support health personnel, hospitals and various sectors of the society during the situation generated by COVID-19.

The agreement was then presented to the architect Santiago Vanegas and his work team, for having achieved the first national prize in the Publications category at the Quito Pan-American Biennial.

Agreements were also awarded to winners of the best year-end projects at the Quito Pan-American Biennial.
