Recognition of the best graduates of the UDA 2020-2021

On October 29, the best graduates of the schools of the University of Azuay were decorated.

At the event, officially named 2020-2021 Laureates, the outstanding students of each career were recognized for their academic performance.

The decoration is organized annually and the honorees wear a laurel wreath, which symbolizes the “coronation of the best”, a meaning that was born in Greece and Rome when outstanding athletes, warriors and poets were crowned with this award.

Along with the crown, the Honorato Vázquez medal was presented, awarded to students who obtained an average equivalent to outstanding, and the medal to the best graduate awarded to those who obtained an average equivalent to a very good grade.

The event was led by the academic members of the University Council, who wore special blue robes for the ceremony.

The laureates of the Faculty of Philosophy were Paula Quezada, in Clinical Psychology; Keyla Argudo, Educational Psychology; Daniela Arévalo, Organizational Psychology; Constanza Figueroa, Social Communication; Erika Rivera, Initial Education; Belén Córdova, Tourism; María Hurtado, Basic Education.

In Administration Sciences, Andrea Ullauri for the Administration career; María Camila Freire, Economy; Alejandro Ponce, Marketing; Francisco Cendón, Senior Accounting, and Cristian Alvarado, Systems and Telematics.

The Faculty of Science and Technology had Zuli Campos, Production Engineering; Flavio Rodríguez, Automotive Mechanical Engineering; Juan Manuel Molina, Civil Engineering; Juan Pablo Zúñiga, Electronic Engineering; Antonio Campoverde, Food Engineering; Paulina Parra, Mining Engineering, and Nathaly Fernández, Biology.

In Design, Architecture and Arts the laureates were Estefanía Vázquez, Design of Objects; Paula Villavicencio, Graphic Design; Adriana Cabrera, Textile and Fashion Design; Vivian Sarmiento, Interior Design; Mishel Astudillo, Theater Art, and Gabriel Reinoso, Architecture.

In Legal Sciences, María Elisa Ochoa by Law and María Salomé Garzón in International Studies. Finally, Doménica Morales was awarded for Medicine.

Francisco Salgado, Rector of the University, gave the initial speech, in which he emphasized his wishes for success for all the graduates of the different schools as well as his congratulations for such an honorable achievement, both for the graduates and for their families and friends.

In the same way, Andrea Estefanía Ullauri intervened as a honoree for having obtained the best grade among all graduates:

"The road has not been easy at all, academic and personal challenges have been overcome to complete this long career full of learning ... A whole world awaits us out there where our success will not be determined by our qualifications, but by our ability to contribute to the city and I know very well that all will triumph ”.

The event culminated with the hymn to the University of Azuay and the departure of the honorees, who said goodbye amid applause from the public present in the General Auditorium.
