Radio UDA produces intercultural contents for radio basins

In March of 2016 the University of Azuay signed an agreement with the Ecuadorian Association of Broadcasting (AER) for the realization of capsules or intercultural microprograms produced by the students of the School of Social Communication.

The Communication Law requires that intercultural spaces be passed in Ecuadorian radios, for which the University of Azuay found an opportunity to contribute to the formation and rescue of culture.

Ecuador: voices, colors and flavors is the name of the intercultural programs that are broadcast on different radio stations in Cuenca such as: K1, W radio, Mágica 921, the Voice of Tomebamba and more. The programs last 3 minutes and tell stories about the social, economic and cultural life of the people, they also talk about the traditions of the region, their typical foods, traditional games etc.

Hugo Guillermo, professor of the subject of Radio and the one in charge of the realization of the programs, explains that the students are divided by subjects; some work on topics such as meals, others about tourist places, other traditional games, and even the students themselves present proposals for the programs.

"At the beginning it was hard enough to start because the students did not know what was the format to work, but over time they learned and we are very happy, they do an excellent job and the programs are being a success", expressed Guillermo.

Gabriela Argudo, student of the fifth cycle of the School of Social Communication and member of the radio team, says that she has learned a lot during this time doing the programs: "It is satisfying to see the result of the work we do and realize that it really gives its fruits. "
