"Pucará Atlas Cantonal" a significant contribution from IERSE
On September 12, the University of Azuay together with its Publishing House presented the book “Pucará Atlas Cantonal”; an event in harmony with the Sustainable Development Goals, specifically goal 17: Partnerships to achieve the goals.
The event was attended by authorities, teachers, administrative staff and students of our institution, authorities of the Pucará canton and the general public.
The publication of the Pucará Atlas arises from the need to strengthen knowledge of our environment, which while affirming its identity, allows it to project its development.
The Atlas is a resource that should be used with enthusiasm in all spheres of public service and, particularly, in the educational world, so that children and young people become familiar with their environment, identify with their land and dedicate the effort of their work to preserve it and fill it with life and new opportunities for all.
The welcoming remarks were given by our principal, Francisco Salgado, who mentioned that the atlas is a beautiful mechanism to know and love what is ours, taking care of life and communities with tenderness. He also expressed that it is essential to know and understand the Azuay territory and to care for the environment through sustainable constructions.
The presentation of the work was made by Omar Delgado, director of the IERSE Department, who mentioned the importance of constructing and representing what exists in the territory of Azuay and its cantons. He also pointed out that this atlas is the result of a research project that compiles updated information and is designed for the understanding of all audiences.
Finally, Adrián Berrezueta, mayor of the Pucará canton, addressed those present, expressing his gratitude for this valuable project and inviting the public to visit this canton.
