Psychoeducation, everyone's effort made a book

Psychoeducation, everyone's effort made a book

On Thursday, June 11, the book Psychoeducation was presented, compiled by Ximena Chocho, Norma Reyes and Lucía Cordero, teachers of the School of Educational Psychology of the University of Azuay.

At Campus we asked the three teachers to share their comments about the work with the university community.

Ximena Chocho: The story of a diary that became a book

This project was born from the idea of contributing to tax education centers, which have supported us as practice centers in recent years.

The initial idea was to create a monthly school newspaper in order to provide children, through their teachers, with information and playful activities to work on the different areas of development, but the idea was changed from a school newspaper to a book, because we were not going to achieve to do it monthly for all that it implies.

It was then proposed to integrate all the students of the career and train them in argumentative writing with the underlying objective of developing skills in reading, research and obviously writing.

Workshops were given and then the compiling team worked on the content of the texts that were already prepared with the teachers in the classrooms; All this was compiled and the process of style review, layout (in the communication department) and finally publication continued.

The work is relevant because the main authors are the students of the Educational Psychology career, in addition to allowing to meet teachers and parents about cognitive, affective, social, school and vocational aspects.

This book is aimed at teachers and representatives of children from 6 to 9 years old, it contains information and activities that seek to improve the academic performance of children from the shared work between these two worlds: school-home.

We are convinced that informed parents and teachers will generate new and better spaces for coexistence between them and, therefore, in the long term, will generate new parenting practices with their future children in these children, bringing changes at the level of our society.

Norma Reyes: A contribution that was born from all

The book was born from the idea of bringing the students of the Educational Psychology career of the different cycles to the reality experienced by parents and teachers of children from 6 to 9 years of fiscal Educational Institutions, who graciously agreed to participate by providing information about the daily needs and experiences with children in the educational and family context.

It was conceived as a text that collects a series of articles that were written with the collaboration of several teachers, who from the classrooms knew how to guide so that the final product becomes a material that can be that reference book of topics of interest in the family, social and school areas.

It is written clearly and with the simplicity and motivation of those who only hope to communicate and put their knowledge at the service of those who need it most.

We are working to fine-tune the first of a few more books to come (the second is already in the oven), with sections of interest such as "I'm in the world", "I learn by playing", "I think, feel and act", "Engineering family and school "," Life project "and" A diverse world ", with a fresh design that invites us to read and find answers to small concerns that as parents and teachers we have.

Commitment and respect for our profession encourages us every day to imagine and build care spaces for children and young people, and the support of fellow teachers and authorities of the university community, allows us to present today this contribution that is born from everyone for everyone .

Lucía Cordero Cobos: Children and an unequal system

Avidity to learn, naivety, joy, sweetness and mischief, so are the little children who teach us so much with their smiles, they take us in an instant to the simple to that precious richness of the game and the innocence that fell from our pockets while We walk from childhood to adulthood in life and now we don't know where we left off.

Look at their faces and know that, despite the fact that their families and their schools make an effort to teach and educate, the conditions of the system in which we live are not fair for everyone and it is the youngest who are deprived of attention, understanding and other resources.

This scenario of reality led us to find a way to contribute and we thought of creating a book with the intention of sharing experiences and knowledge that could be of help to support parents and teachers during the process of caring for and educating their children.

The Psychoeducation book is a reality thanks to the commitment of colleagues, students, teachers, psychologists and more generous-hearted people who dream of a better world and work to achieve it.

The Publishing House of the UDA invites you to download this book for free.
