Today, a work meeting was held to present the progress obtained in the project to develop social housing with a productive vocation for the rural parishes of the city of Cuenca. This initiative is led by the Architecture and Urban Planning Consultant and the School of Architecture of the University of Azuay.

Entities such as the El Barranco Foundation and EMUVI participate in this project, recognizing the complexity of the housing issue, especially in the national context, characterized by a high housing deficit. In this sense, the innovative approach of developing social housing for rural environments stands out.

The project has an estimated duration of six months, it focuses on the creation of a rural housing model adapted to the specific needs of each parish, integrating a productive vocation that will allow families to generate additional income, thus improving their quality of life. life.

It is projected that the results of this research will contribute to the formulation of public policies aimed at the development of housing in priority sectors, addressing the most pressing needs of the country. In addition, the multidisciplinary approach of the project is highlighted, which involves social, environmental and sustainable aspects, aligned with 11 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The University of Azuay participates in this initiative, demonstrating its experience in working with municipal and state institutions, which has even been reflected in a high impact on the city. The project, initially conceived through an internal competition of the School of Architecture, reflects the commitment and dedication of both students and teachers towards solving social problems.

This project represents a step towards the search for inclusive and sustainable housing solutions, providing hope and opportunities to rural communities. The University of Azuay reaffirms its commitment to continue working on the execution and development of this initiative, in collaboration with all parties involved.
