Linkage programs with the GAD of Nabón

On March 24, the University of Azuay and the Decentralized Autonomous Government (GAD) of Nabón presented the technological training programs and projects worked together to strengthen ties between academia and the community.

The event was attended by Francisco Salgado, Rector of the UDA; Patricio Maldonado, Mayor of the GAD of Nabón; Martha Cobos, Academic Vice Chancellor; Jacinto Guillen, Vice-rector for Research; Oswaldo Merchán, Dean of the Faculty of Administration Sciences; Andrés López, Dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology.

Patricia Ortega, Director of the Technological Training Unit; Juanita Versosa, Liaison Coordinator of the Faculty of Business Administration, in addition to the directors of different projects.

The Rector mentioned that the program is aimed especially at the rural sector, especially young people who usually do not have access to higher education, and seeks to have a national scope.

Technology training programs include Superior Technology in Sales, Warehousing and Distribution Logistics, Superior Technology in Automotive Technology, Superior Technology in Agroecology, Superior Technology in Dairy Processing, and Superior Technology in Rural Tourism.

It is expected that later other municipalities will be included in this project from other cantons of the province and the country.

Patricia Ortega, Director of the Technological Unit, explained that the third level technology and professional training programs offered by the University of Azuay are in tune with the economic and social development of the communities.

They have a theoretical and practical focus, with the acquisition of skills to function professionally and easily adapt to any work environment.

Finally, Patricio Maldonado, Mayor of Nabón, stressed that the previous school year 140 young people graduated in the district of Nabón and Oña, but only 9 entered the university, so it is key to change this statistic and ensure a better future for students. youths.
