Professor of Law presents a paper in the United States

Silvana Tapia, professor at the Faculty of Legal Sciences, presented the presentation in Washington DC Legal Colonialities: Indigenous Justice, Human Rights and Penality in the Discourse of the Constitutional Court of Ecuador (Legalities: indigenous justice, human rights and penalties in the speech of the Constitutional Court of Ecuador), a joint work with the Subdecano Sebastián López.

The presentation, which took place on May 30, was held within the framework of the annual conference of the Law and Society Association (LSA), one of the largest networks of socio-legal studies at a global level (lawandsociety.org/WashingtonDC2019/ Washington2019.html).

This in turn was within the panel Indigenous Governance: the Struggle for a New Distribution of Rights and Power Over Territories (Indigenous governance: the struggle for a new distribution of rights and powers in the territories).

Additionally, in the days prior to the conference, Tapia participated in the annual workshop for young academics, thanks to a scholarship granted by the LSA, within a merit selection process.

"The participation of the UDA Law School in these events was successful and received with enthusiasm by academic peers in various areas of interdisciplinary legal work," said the professor of the Faculty of Legal Sciences.

The paper will be sent for publication in the coming days.
