Productivity in the Manufacturing Sector: Book Presentation

On April 03, the University of Azuay and its publishing house presented the book "Productivity in the Manufacturing Sector: An Analysis for the Ecuadorian Case." This event was held in conjunction with the 55th anniversary of the Faculty of Business Sciences and in line with the Sustainable Development Goals.

The event was attended by authorities, teachers, administrative staff and students from our university community, family and friends of the authors and the general public. 

In this book, readers will discover the concepts, foundations, and methods for calculating productivity metrics in companies so they can replicate them in their case studies or real-life situations. They will also find the calculated values ​​for static and dynamic indicators. This ranges from basic but essential indicators for analysis, such as operating revenue growth, to more complex ones, such as total factor productivity.

The welcoming remarks were delivered by Genoveva Malo, Academic Vice-Rector of the University of Azuay, who emphasized that this publication represents a major project for the dissemination of science and knowledge. She also mentioned that the School of Business has registered a large number of book downloads, demonstrating the relevance and impact this work will have. 

Luis Tonón, a commentator on the work, pointed out that the manufacturing sector is essential for driving sustainable development and highlighted the participation of four professors and more than twenty students in the development of the work, which addresses various key aspects of this sector. He explained that this work does not limit itself solely to providing indicators but also analyzes existing gaps and policy design, thus serving as a tool for those seeking to understand and contribute to a more prosperous economic future for the country.

Finally, Silvia Mejía addressed the audience on behalf of the authors. She thanked those present and emphasized that the book goes beyond theory and is applicable to Ecuador's manufacturing sector. She emphasized that the research model is based on the team's strengths.
