Book launch: Budgeting, a practical approach
On November 21, the University of Azuay and its publishing house presented the book: “Budgets, a practical approach” that offers a comprehensive guide for the preparation and analysis of budgets in the public and private sectors.
The event was attended by authorities, teachers, administrative staff, students from our university community and the general public.
This work addresses key concepts, classifications, stages and advantages of the budgeting process, highlighting its importance as a planning and control tool. Through practical examples and applied exercises, it fosters understanding of topics such as operating, financial and investment budgets and their integration into projected financial statements.
The event began with a speech by Francisco Salgado, rector of the University of Azuay, who highlighted the importance of publications by teachers, as they allow students to engage in direct dialogue with the authors. He also congratulated the authors for the quality and value of the book.
The book was presented by Wladimir Proaño, a professor at the University of Azuay and commentator on the work. During his speech, he presented a synopsis of the content and expressed his satisfaction with the project. He also highlighted the relevance of the work, pointing out that it constitutes a valuable reference for students and professionals as it serves as a roadmap for the development of various functions.
The official launch of the book was led by one of its authors, Marco Antonio Piedra, a professor at the University of Azuay. During his speech, he highlighted that, in a world where financial decisions determine the difference between success and failure, having a budget is not only a tool, but an essential strategy. He also stressed that the writing of the book was particularly interesting, since part of its content was linked to the work of the students and the authors, who left a valuable legacy for future generations.
Finally, Teodoro Cubero Abril, one of the authors of the book, stressed that the work is the fruit of great effort and vast experience, backed by the trajectory of its authors in these fields. He concluded his speech with an emotional quote from Carlos Ruiz Zafón:
"Every book, every volume you see, has a soul. The soul of the person who wrote it, and the soul of those who read it, lived it, and dreamed with it. Every time a book changes hands, every time someone glances through its pages, its spirit grows and becomes stronger."
