Presentation of the electric motorcycle

On December 15, the University of Azuay - together with its Faculty of Science and Technology, the company TRATURAL Energía Renovable and the Ecuadorian Corporation for the Development of Research and the Academy (CEDIA) - organized the official presentation of the electric motorcycle.

The launch of the motorcycle was an event that took place in conjunction with the closing of the 2nd Congress on Renewable Energies and Energy Efficiency: ¨Ecuador is Energy¨, a symposium organized by the students of the same Faculty.

During the day there was a special presence of the authorities of the University of Azuay and authorities such as the Mayor of the City of Cuenca, Pedro Palacios; the Executive Director of Red CEDIA, Juan Pablo Carvallo; the General Manager of TRATURAL Energía Renovable, Esteban Calderón Neira, among others, who played a fundamental role in the development of the motor vehicle, as well as in the development of the event.

Pedro Palacios during his speech said: ¨ I want to dwell on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) for a moment and, specifically, I want to emphasize number 17: alliances to achieve it. This is exactly what we see and it brings us here today; With this launch we have shown that alliances allow us to achieve it¨.

He also stressed the importance of caring for the environment as one of the fundamental axes.

The project in question was called "Design and construction of an electric motorcycle and the development of a plan for its production" and was executed within the call "CEDIA funds one by one".

In this context, the plan aims to strengthen the national automotive industry, including the manufacture of a model with its own design and added value of 100% Ecuadorian manufacturing. With this proposal, it is intended to take advantage of the existing knowledge in the professionals of the University of Azuay.

The electric propulsion motorcycle has the requirements of an urban vehicle and the selection of peripheral accessories to meet all the functional and safety characteristics necessary for its use.

As a result of the closing of the Congress, the organizing committee delivered certificates to those who participated as speakers during the event, thus delivering 9 vouchers for the 16 pm symposium held on November 10, 11 and 12, 2021 .

The event, which began in the General Auditorium of the Universidad del Azuay, ended in the agora of the pool where a toast was made by José Jara, Researcher from the Universidad del Azuay and TRATURAL Energía Renovable.
