Presentation of the Biblián brand

Presentation of the Biblián brand

On May 27, the presentation of the Biblián brand was carried out, which was the product of a linking project in which students of the Graphic Design career of the University of Azuay participated, to generate a brand identity through design within from this city.

Vanesa Cabrera was the winner and the municipality decided to implement her proposal, as well as hire her to manage the brand and design in all the necessary areas.

Diego Larriva, coordinator of the Biblián project, tells us that about three years ago a specific agreement was made between the University and the Biblián community based on a project with the School of Textile and Clothing Design.

Larriva added that the intention from the beginning was for the city brand to move away from politics and start from the perceptions of the community.

The project was worked with the students, lasted half a cycle and was carried out in two stages: the first where the brand idea was developed and, in the second, the designation of origin brand for certain products of the region.

After this development, a fair was held where the works were exhibited and a selection was made among them, where residents of Biblián, canton authorities, students and professors from the University of Azuay participated.

Larriva comments that the importance of creating a city brand is because it helps to shape a place, to be able to communicate it and give an identity that works in two ways: one that the tourist recognizes the city and another in which the people of the city city feels identified with the brand.

To generate this recognition, all the joint works that are developed within the city must promote a social, economic and tourist growth of the canton; it is very important that this denomination of origin is handled.

In addition, the people of Biblián have seen that it is necessary for this work to be carried out with the help of a designer within the company for the development of this activity and large project, says Larriva.

The award is undoubtedly a form of motivation for students of the career and profession.
