Presentation of catalogues and official presentation of Leonardo Finotti's photographs

On October 01st, the University of Azuay, together with its Publishing House and the Faculty of Design, Architecture, and Art, presented the catalogs of Brazilian artist Leonardo Finotti and officially presented his photographic work to the institution; an event aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals.

The event was attended by authorities, teachers, administrative staff, students from our university community and the general public.

During the program, the collaboration with Leonardo Finotti was presented. Finotti captured modern architecture in Ecuador and toured the university campus. This work led to the series "Campus Passages," which captures iconic urban spaces and interiors, offering the general and academic public a contemporary and artistic perspective on university architecture.

The event began with remarks from Francisco Salgado, rector of the University of Azuay, who emphasized that this work is the result of a long process, materialized with the symbolic presentation of these images to the University.

Cristian Sotomayor, coordinator of the School of Architecture, highlighted the history of collaboration with Leonardo Finotti and the value of the international exhibition Latinitudes, which included Ecuadorian projects for the first time and gave visibility to Cuenca and the country in the field of Latin American architecture.

Subsequently, the photographic work depicting the university campus was symbolically handed over and will remain at the institution's disposal.

Finally, the artist, via video chat, shared his vision of the meaning of his work and expressed his satisfaction with the collaboration with the University of Azuay, which made these publications possible.
