English spelling award

On June 8, the awarding of the spelling bee contestants from the Jima Educational Unit was held at the Hernán Malo Library.

Present at this event were Francisco Salgado, Rector of the UDA; Jorge Luis Calderón, Head of the Sigsig Education District; Andrés López, Dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology, and Magaly Arteaga, Director of the Language Unit.

Students, parents, teachers and directors of the educational unit also attended, who highlighted their excitement and gratification for having participated in the third spelling bee contest held by said institution.

“This is a very important event for us as the University of Azuay, because the change we want in the country has to start in education and fundamentally in basic education. Basic education is the most important thing to change the destiny of the country, so this is a very significant act ”, said the Rector of the University.

For her part, Magaly Arteaga stated that the contest requires a lot of preparation and effort:

"Each encounter with our students and with the students of the Jima Educational Unit ceased to be only encounters to improve English, I could affirm with certainty that they turned into moments of pleasure, of forgetting the pandemic, of fraternal encounters, of mutual commitment" .

After the directors expressed their happiness for this act, the students were awarded, it should be noted that the winner of the third spelling bee contest was the student Andrea Matailo.
