"Campus landscapes", a work by Leonardo Finotti
On November 25, the University of Azuay together with its Publishing House presented the unveiling of the work “Passages of the campus: photographic tour of the University” by photographer Leonardo Finotti.
The event was attended by authorities, teachers, administrative staff and students from our university community, family and friends of the author and the general public.
The University of Azuay presents the first permanent exhibition of Leonardo Finotti in Ecuador, the photographs of the series become ambassadors of the University for the world.
The welcoming remarks were made by Francisco Salgado, rector of the University of Azuay, who mentioned that the artist has a unique sensitivity that transforms photography into a work of art. He emphasized that this sensitivity, so essential in art, inspires the creation of new perspectives and nourishes hope for the future of our country and the world. He also highlighted the details of the images and the effort reflected in them.
In turn, Fernanda Aguirre, professor at the School of Architecture, shared her impressions of the exhibition and commented that she had the opportunity to talk with Leonardo Finotti, who said that photography served as a channel for stopping and observing; this phrase led her to reflect on the importance of common sense and simplicity in these two actions, as well as on the sensitivity necessary to appreciate the works we contemplate. She concluded her speech by thanking all the people who made the exhibition possible.
For his part, Leonardo Finotti, the author of the work, addressed those present with a warm greeting. He expressed his joy at being in Ecuador presenting his work and stressed that he feels part of this community. He especially thanked the university for the gesture and the opportunity to share his work in this space.
At the end of the interventions, the works inside the Faculty of Science and Technology were unveiled.
