Opportunities in access to higher education

On April 13, a meeting was held between the Academy and local governments to generate educational opportunities for young people from Azuay, Cañar and Morona Santiago.

The event was organized by the Universidad del Azuay and the Association of Ecuadorian Municipalities (AME), Regional 6.

During the meeting, the technological offer of the UDA was presented, whose main objective is to provide access to higher education and, through this, contribute to the reduction of youth unemployment and the increase of professionals who contribute to improving productivity levels and efficiency in the country, as well as the social and economic development of its community.

According to Patricia Ortega, Director of the Technological Training Unit, "the technologies presented respond to the demand of the labor markets and are a gear in the local development process that is being promoted."

Among the careers offered are: Rural Tourism, Sales, Automotive Electromechanics, Agroecology, Dairy Processing, Performance, Storage and Distribution Logistics.

According to Francisco Salgado, Rector of the UDA, "this is an act of profound significance, since only when there is a concrete offer and a concrete alliance is it possible for young people from the rural sector, especially, to reach higher education".

With this program, "we hope that we can all look to the future together," added Salgado.

Finally, a letter of commitment was signed for the generation of opportunities in access to higher education in zone six: Azuay, Cañar and Morona Santiago.
