New tools for attracting students

Since the beginning of the health crisis, the University of Azuay has opted for various methods to attract new student prospects. A challenge triggered by an unusual situation has presented several challenges for the Student Welfare department.

The stress for high school graduates in choosing a suitable university offer is great, which is why, since January of this year, around 25 schools have been given talks through a virtual format.

María Elena Castro, Director of University Welfare, tells us about the new tools that the University of Azuay has explored to present its educational proposal: "It has sought to generate an organic and dynamic interaction so as not to lose the essence of the university."

There are two options when visiting the facilities, the first is through a virtual tour that is given from the website of the University of Azuay. During these tours the entire University is shown and each of the faculties is prioritized.

The second option is through a face-to-face tour, called walking tour. To access this initiative, parents must sign a document authorizing the visit of their children to the University and committing themselves that their representatives abide by the biosafety regulations imposed by the authorities.

Castro details us about the process of linking with educational institutions: "It begins with informative talks, later the schools are invited to visit the campus in person."

"Lastly, family discussions are created, in which we seek to create an atmosphere of closeness between our institution and the parents," concludes María Elena Castro.

At the moment, six schools have participated in this process: Liceo Cristiano, Cebci, Nuestra Familia, Sagrados Corazones, Colegio Alemán and La Asunción.

"Before we had the open house in person, where they went to the stands of the races and the website was a complement, however, the latter is now our main tool" says María Elena Castro.

To generate a complete experience and solve the various doubts of the applicants, within the UDA website you can access the item "Admissions" that presents in a schematic way the processes of linking with the university.

In addition, on this same page each career contains the job application profiles, the syllables, the teaching staff and a video that synthesizes the edges of the option to choose.

These mechanisms have facilitated the receptivity of the UDA educational offer to provinces such as El Oro and Cañar, confirming that virtuality is positive for communicating with educational institutions outside of Azuay.

The UDA looks to the future from a virtual perspective. This new dynamic will be applied, in conjunction with the open houses, when the health crisis has ceased.
