National University Sports: press conference
On February 10, the University of Azuay participated in a press conference where details were presented about the National University Sports Championship that will take place in Cuenca from February 15 to 22 of this year; a fundamental event for sports in the academic field of our country.
The event is sponsored by the Ecuadorian Federation of University and Polytechnic Sports (FEDUP), organized and worked jointly by the University of Azuay, the Catholic University of Cuenca, the University of Cuenca and the Salesian Polytechnic University.
This meeting, in addition to promoting sport in higher education, seeks to define the delegations that will represent the country at the Rhine-Ruhr World University Games, Germany 2025.
The press conference began with a welcome speech by the Rector of the University of Cuenca, followed by remarks by the President of FEDUP.
Once the interventions were over, the round of questions to the authorities of the different universities and institutions of the city took place, regarding the classification process, financing, locations, among others.
In these statements, Francisco Salgado, rector of the University of Azuay, mentioned the importance of sport in academic training and how sport strengthens fundamental ties not only with the institutions that are part of it but with the entire country.
