Cross-References on Territorial Planning Terms for Ibero-America: Book Presentation
On July 19, the University of Azuay, together with its publishing house, presented the book "Cross-Referenced Views on Territorial Planning Terms for Ibero-America" as part of the VIII RIDOT Workshop, XIV SNDU/PT 2025; an event aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals.
The meeting was attended by authorities, faculty, and students from our university community, city and national authorities, guest speakers, and the general public.
This work contains the results of the "Glossary of Territorial Planning for Ibero-America" project, although its format is not that of a traditional glossary. It responds to the need to build a common technical language for interpreting, understanding, and comparing views and approaches to terms included in the field of Territorial Planning.
The meeting began with remarks by Francisco Salgado, rector of the University of Azuay, who emphasized that this work is part of efforts to contribute to territorial planning, underscoring the need to revalue the power of words and give them new meanings. He also highlighted the importance of recognizing art, language, and books as means to extend care and tenderness to life in all its dimensions.
The book was presented by Eduardo Veedor de Paula, representative of the Latin American Node of RIDOT, who expressed his gratitude to the organizing committee for the opportunity to present the book. He noted that the purpose of this publication is to convey a clear message, as well as approaches and knowledge about the importance of territorial planning in the Ibero-American context.
The book launch was led by María Elina Gudiño, who spoke remotely on behalf of the authors. In her remarks, she emphasized that the book presents the main results of the project and responds to the need to develop accessible technical language that facilitates a general understanding of land use planning.
