Minga Lab 2020, a publication by Diego Proaño and Ana Llerena

On February 20, the University of Azuay and its Publishing House held the presentation of the book "Minga Lab 2020", an event in harmony with the Sustainable Development Goals.

The event was attended by authorities, professors, administrative staff and students from our university community, members of the different universities that participated in the project, family members and friends of the authors and the general public.

The Minga Lab 2020 book compiles the results of research carried out by four teams from different universities in the Ecuadorian highlands. This research focuses on the development of sustainable collective housing projects, adapted to their respective contexts and designed to respond to local needs. This nationwide effort has made it possible to rethink the concept of housing, exploring new forms of design under the comprehensive approach of sustainability.

The event began with a speech by Francisco Salgado, rector of the University of Azuay, who highlighted that this book contributes significantly to improving people's quality of life, since it not only covers architectural aspects, but also focuses on health, the well-being of the community and the promotion of a new way of living. He highlighted the joint effort of the institutions that were part of the project and congratulated all the people who made this publication possible.

Carolina Rodas, representative of RAMA Estudio and commentator of the work, highlighted the importance of academia in the search for innovative and sustainable solutions. She stressed that Minga Lab presents proposals that address key issues such as urban design, accessibility, comfort and energy efficiency.

Finally, the book launch was led by Diego Proaño and Ana Llerena, authors of the book, who addressed the public, pointing out that this event is the result of hard work and dedication, which has allowed the articulation of national responses in the search for new solutions for sustainable collective housing. They explained in detail the process they carried out to compile the information for the book and highlighted that initiatives such as Minga Lab make a great contribution to society. They also emphasized that it is essential that all sectors recognize and adopt the advances generated by academia.
