Roundtable reflects in the UDA about the mistreatment of women

On November 24 on November, a round table organized by the School of Clinical Psychology in coordination with the Department of Culture of the University on the mistreatment of women was held in the Auditorium of the University of Azuay.

The event included the participation of Gabriela Acurio Torres, Psychologist of the Violence Unit of the Azuay Prosecutor's Office; Elizabeth Bermeo Peralta, Zonal Director of Health Promotion and Equality of the Ministry of Public Health; Mónica Rodas, Coordinator of the School of Organizational Psychology, and Gerardo Peña, Coordinator of the School of Clinical Psychology, who acted as moderator.

Women and their rights, the struggle for equality, Public Health regulations, the route of violence and gender violence in the workplace were the topics discussed by the participants who attended this meeting.

Mónica Rodas said that this type of meeting is a space for reflection but warned that such reflection would not be useful if there are no results with which violence against women can be prevented.

"We must work much more on actions that allow us to foresee these cases so that later we have a much healthier Cuenca society," added the UDA professor.

The round table was a response to the invitation of the United Nations, in particular UN Women, for the University of Azuay to participate in the "Join" program, which takes place from the commemoration of the International Day of Non-Violence against Violence. Woman, celebrated every November 25.

The event was attended by students of Psychology, Tourism and Social Communication of the Universidad del Azuay, who at the end of the day were able to ask questions and share their reflections on this problem.
