Honorable mention to Dr. Fabián Retaco
On March 30, the University of Azuay together with the Faculty of Medicine carried out the designation as "Honorary Professor" of the University to Dr. Fabián Retaco, specialist in Emergentology and International Director of the University Course of Advanced Studies in Thorax Ultrasound, for provide the university community with its valuable contribution in scientific and human training.
Fabián Retaco has an extensive series of studies and academic achievements, which began in his native country, Argentina: doctor and specialist in Emergentology at the National University of La Plata; professor at the Austral University; Director of the University Course of Ultrasonography in Emergency at the Universidad Nacional del Litoral and director of the Diploma in Ultrasonography at the Universidad San Pablo de Tucumán.
Likewise, he has developed internationally as a fellowship in Ultrasonography at the San Luigi Gonzaga University Hospital, Italy; Director of the Ultrasonography Diploma at the San Martín de Porres University, Peru, and Director of the Ultrasonography Diploma at the Univalle University, Bolivia.
He is even a member of the Argentine Society of Emergencies, as well as the Latin American Society of Thorax and the European Society of Respiratory Diseases. These among others are some examples of his great professional and academic training.
In honor of these merits, the aforementioned event was organized, headed by Francisco Salgado, Rector of the University; Galo Duque y Cumandá Merchán, Dean and Assistant Dean of the Faculty of Medicine; Mirian Mora, member of the University Council, as well as teachers and students, both in person and virtual.
To start the event, the Rector referred to the mention with the following words: "This call sign as 'Honorary Professor' means that the privilege is for us to have him within our university community."
Then, the Dean of Medicine welcomed him to the University Faculty, adding: "We not only incorporated a great academic into our faculty with sufficient merits and honors, we incorporated with pride and joy a great human being, a friend." .
After this, a commemorative medal was awarded by the rector of the University along with a certified agreement conferred by the dean of the previously mentioned Faculty in recognition of their academic, professional and human trajectory.
The honoree received this recognition through tears, attaching that his father was a strong pillar in his professional development. In addition, he added that: "You cannot keep anything you learn, you have to deliver everything, no matter where and when it is, you have to insist."
He also stressed that the University of Azuay has a great academic breadth, humility and simplicity to transmit and generate knowledge to its students, since it offers programs in the XNUMXst century but that are designed for the XNUMXnd century.
Finally, the Assistant Dean of Medicine delivered a commemorative button to Dr. Retaco to conclude the event.
