Memories Manabitas: the UDA remembers the anniversary of the earthquake together with the University of San Gregorio de Portoviejo

The 21 of April culminated in the middle of music, amorphs and manabitas dances an exchange of experiences and training between the UDA and the San Gregorio de Portoviejo University that involved the Theater Arts and Social Communication Schools.

It all started the first week of April when teachers and students from the School of Theater Arts of the UDA visited the University of San Gregorio and gave workshops.

Two weeks later, the same process was carried out at the Universidad del Azuay, based on workshops on historical memory and oral narration from Manabi, dictated by professors Jaime Alcívar and Eduardo Mendoza.

"This workshop seeks to disseminate and promote research on historical memory and oral narration. It also aims to understand the Andean theatricality of our origins, since Manabí is the cradle of oral narration in Ecuador; and the Andean theatricality has a lot of oral narration, "said Jaime Garrido, Coordinator of the Theater Arts School of the UDA.

"We are happy to share a subject that is very necessary, valuable and pertinent for the students; since their level of culture is very sovereign. It is a subject that commits us and motivates us, "said Jaime Alcívar, a professor at the University of San Gregorio.

The School of Social Communication of the UDA, for its part, invited its pair of Portoviejo to present the multimedia platform called "45 seconds", created by the students of the Communication career of the University of San Gregorio to register testimonies of victims because of the earthquake.

The UDA students are also collaborating on this platform, based on testimonies collected in the link project with the Samán Camp in Manabí.

"Experience this communication fact and emphasize the roles of the communicator; it allows students to learn as they should and with excellence, even more knowing that we live an event that marked our lives, "said Paulina Molina, coordinator of the" 45 seconds "project.

"Everything that is done from the heart thrives well in any field, this experience taught us to bring it to life, to put it on the line. So, do not wait to go through a catastrophe or a difficult moment to do things with heart and soul, "said Gabriela Cuadras, student from Manabi.

To end the event, Gabriela, together with the group "Son Montubio" -directed by Eduardo Mendoza- delighted the audience, performing amorphs and manabitas dances.
