Master in Electric Propulsion System, unique in the country
The University of Azuay, through its Postgraduate Department, has eight master's degrees that will be offered for the cycle from March 2021 to September 2022, among them, the master's degree in Electric Propulsion Systems, in its second version.
As Efrén Fernández Palomeque, director of the program, explained that this master's degree focuses on the specific area of maintenance in hybrid and electric vehicles.
It also deals with technical issues focused on high voltage batteries, inverter systems and electric motors, as well as preventive maintenance for this type of technology.
The cost of the master's degree is $ 500 for tuition and $ 8.000 for tuition. It lasts for 18 months, including the degree work.
The professional profile is aimed at an audience of professionals in Automotive Mechanical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering and the like.
Due to the pandemic, the modality of this master's degree will be mostly blended, which includes practices in the workshops, but everything will depend on how the situation caused by the virus evolves.
Graduates of the master's degree will be able to master the control in systems and technology of vehicles with electric propulsion, in addition to designing, planning and executing preventive and corrective maintenance plans in vehicles with electric propulsion and in vehicle fleets.
"This master's degree is the only one existing at the national level, which is why it has had a great reception of students from different parts of the country," said Fernández and added:
"There were several agreements of automotive companies, for hiring human talent trained in technical and investigative level, which is a great opportunity for the student who takes this master's degree."
