"The Four Corners", a pictorial collection by Patricio Palomeque and Jonnathan Mosquera
On September 20, the University of Azuay and its Publishing House held the Unveiling of the Pictorial Ensemble “Las Cuatro Esquinas” by the artist Patricio Palomeque with the collaboration of Jonnathan Mosquera; an event in harmony with the principle of care that inspires our university and the Sustainable Development Goals.
The event was attended by authorities, teachers and administrative staff from our university community and the general public.
The welcoming remarks were made by Francisco Salgado, rector of the University of Azuay, who mentioned that the University is a space where humans flourish to the fullest, reminding us that knowledge is not only a matter of logic but of profound sensitivity. He also emphasized that culture and art are a fundamental part of a sustainable community and the path of those who seek their expression in the world of life.
In turn, Cristóbal Zapata, editor of the catalogue that accompanies the work, addressed the public, pointing out that the installation of this set of works found in the hallways and on the terrace of the Faculty of Science and Technology fosters a suggestive dialogue with the architecture of the place and creates new and subtle connections with the campus and the Cuenca landscape.
Once the interventions were completed, the work was unveiled by our authorities and the artists of the work.
Finally, the artists addressed the public expressing their gratitude for the opportunity provided, pointing out the importance of having spaces dedicated to art within the institution, where people can interact with them and culture and art are promoted with the help of the academy.
