Launch of the Third Bulletin of the Business Observatory

On October 29, the Business Observatory of the University of Azuay presented its Third Bulletin, this time in tribute to the fiftieth anniversary of the Faculty of Administration Sciences

In this edition, the bulletin presents the analysis of two important sectors of business activity: furniture manufacturing and beverage manufacturing.

The first item is composed, in its majority, by medium and small companies; the second, for a highly competitive industry.

In this research it is determined that the strength in the wood sector is internal logistics, marketing and sales; With respect to companies that target the beverage sector, the strength is seen to extend to the areas of marketing, sales and the operations process.

The bulletin analyzes the two sectors from different perspectives: one of them is the growth of production, observing the performance of the capital and labor factors; On the other hand, the links in the value chain are studied, strengths and weaknesses are determined in each sector.

In addition, financial performance at the national level is investigated, identifying relevant characteristics of management; The study of insolvency, liquidity and market risk is also addressed, by classifying organizations by their level of risk.

Finally, the price that consumers are willing to pay for the products of these companies and the role that they play in the profitability obtained is evaluated.

In this regard, the researchers point out that new consumers are willing to have an intention to pay for products that are produced in a responsible way, especially on environmental and social issues.  

The launch was attended by the zoom platform, Francisco Salgado, Rector of the UDA; Martha Cobos, Academic Vice Chancellor; Jacinto Guillén, Vice-rector for Research; Oswaldo Merchán, Dean of Administration Sciences; Ximena Moscoso, Assistant Dean; the team of researchers and the technical support team, the Scientific Committee; university authorities; teachers and students. 

According to Fernando Guerrero, a researcher at the Business Observatory, this initiative allows students to research, analyze data and collaborate with companies to obtain a broader idea of ​​how business scenarios are currently.

This helps students to know in depth the importance of handling the data obtained in companies, whether small, medium or large, with criteria, since they all generate information.
