On February 25, the book “Psychoeducation: Transformative Looks” was presented and launched, written by Educational Psychology students Danny Chicaiza, Vanessa Cedillo, Emilia Páez, Valentina Martínez, Sthefany Guallpa, David Pineda, Stephanny Urgiles, Sophie Ehnert, Ximena Córdova, Margoth Bueno, Kelly Tapia and Andrea Castro.

The book is the result of the “Community Psychoeducation” project led by Ximena Chocho, together with Norma Reyes and Lucía Cordero.

This book identified the needs of children through focus groups with families and teachers in 2018, with the aim of reaching parents, representatives and teachers of children from second to fourth grade in the community in general.

Educational institutions that opened the doors to students for pre-professional internships participated in this project: Abelardo Tamariz Crespo Educational Unit, Herlinda Toral Educational Unit and San Francisco Educational Unit.

Marta Cobos, Academic Vice-Rector of the University of Azuay, mentioned that today the fundamental principle is to learn to work as a team, this principle is not only educational, it is also a principle of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).

“One of them tells us that we must learn to live together, the university is walking towards it, the fact that you have managed to have a book, a publication with several authors, students and teachers, shows us that we are walking towards that great objective of seeking good common, "said Cobos.

Psychoeducation is the primary tool of a psychologist who intends to inform, train and engage those who daily interact with children, whether in their homes, classrooms, with the second edition of this book we want parents and teachers to know, understand and get involved in the development and learning of children from different educational institutions.

Mónica Corral, Coordinator of the School of Educational Psychology, said that after conducting various focus groups, both with parents and teachers, they managed to identify problems of the educational community within which students dedicated themselves to writing deep scientific reflections on issues psychoeducational, family, vocational and ethical.

Norma Reyes, co-author of the book, concluded that the main objective is to make students aware of the importance of community service,
