Launch of the magazine "Manzaneidad 2020"

The Association of Students of the Faculty of Design, Architecture and Art organized the event "Manzaneidad 2020", on the occasion of the launch of the magazine and awarding of academic projects developed by the students of the different careers of the Faculty.

The event took place on December 9 in the auditorium of the University from 11:00 am.

Francisco Salgado, Rector of the University of Azuay, opened the event with a welcome speech in which he congratulated the organizers of the event and emphasized the challenge of competing against oneself to overcome:

"This is a celebration, because today our students are honored in the most prestigious Faculty of Design, Architecture and Art in the country, so this is a very important achievement."

Later Genoveva Malo, Dean of the Faculty, intervened to extend the congratulations to the students and present the concept and content of the magazine:

“This publication aims to applaud the excellence of the students and at the same time share experiences; each page has a different voice, each project is a living sign of ways of understanding and approaching design ”.

“This event was born a few years ago, in a design class with Professor Salvador Castro, who intended to convey to students the essence of things, for Heidegger, the usefulness of the useful in the thingness of things, in the apple of the block ”, declared later the president of the Association of students of the Faculty, Andrés Pauta.

Along the same lines, Pauta explained that this is where the conception of the magazine arises, which he transformed into a space for the recognition of academic merit.

“The magazine has 6 chapters corresponding to each school and the projects are exhibited by their authors. This is a student initiative and this year it could not stop, ”he said.

To end his speech, Pauta thanked his colleagues and professors for their support and delivered the magazine to the University of Azuay library to make it available to the entire university community.

After these interventions, the students of the Object Design, Graphic Design, Interior Design, Textile Design, Architecture and Theater Art careers were awarded, who received a certificate of recognition for their remarkable performance in the creation of projects in these different areas.

The event began and ended with the musical intervention of Gabriela Méndez, a student at the Universidad del Azuay.
