Vaccination against the coronavirus analyzed by future doctors

On January 22, a dialogue of medical students took place on the vaccination processes against Covid-19 in the country, organized by the Ethics Program of the University of Azuay.

On behalf of the UDA, María Rosa Arroyo intervened, who debated the need to vaccinate but also to confront the disinformation that exists regarding vaccines.

"We must take into account the insecurities of the patient when communicating with the doctor to inform the truth, that would encourage the vaccine," said Arroyo.

The second intervention was in charge of Samanta Palomino, a student at the University of Cuenca, who questioned the scope of the vaccination plan of the Ministry of Public Health of Ecuador.

Palomino pointed out that this plan would have a total of 9 million doses, which represents 52,70% of the Ecuadorian population, when 71,90% is needed to achieve immunity in the country.

The last intervention was by Pedro Vega, a student at the Universidad Católica de Cuenca, who wondered if it is ethical to exclude people who have already been infected by the virus from the vaccination plan, since there are currently no conclusive studies on the possibility reinfection.

At the end of the three speakers agreed that the best option to combat the virus is the vaccine as it prevents and protects the person from contracting the disease.
