The University of Azuay in the celebration of Corpus Christi: a party full of faith and tradition
On June 3, the University of Azuay participated in the mass to celebrate the Corpus Christi festivities and the procession for the fifth day of the septenary; a festival full of faith and tradition.
This celebration is one of the most traditional in Cuenca, since Corpus Christi is a Catholic holiday that is commemorated every year on the second Thursday after Pentecost.
The eurastic celebration is the central element of the celebration of Corpus Christi. The name of the holiday, which literally means "body of Christ" in Latin, highlights the importance of sharing bread, symbolically the body of Christ, just as Jesus did. This act of communion is the heart of the festival.
On this occasion, the University of Azuay was prioste on the fifth day of the septenary, starring the participation of the universities of the city.
Once the ceremony was over, the procession took place, followed by the burning of the colorful castle. This event, a symbol of celebration and tradition, illuminated the streets of the historic center and the sky of Cuenca, adding a magical and festive touch to this important celebration.
