The UDA and React Latin America launched the book "Let's count our Bac-historias"

On November 21 last November in the Multiple Use Room of the Universidad del Azuay, the launch of the book "Contemos nuestros Bac-historias" was launched, an initiative of the React Latin America network.

"Today we have the honor of presenting one of the products that was structured in the programming for the 2017 year. I want to thank React for that opportunity and congratulate the fellow researchers and teachers at the University who enthusiastically participated and helped this to be very successful, "said Jacinto Guillén, Academic Vice-Chancellor of the UDA, in his words of welcome to the event.

Guillén also praised "the students who participated with great motivation to get to this product that today we have the pleasure of presenting."

ReAct Latin America is made up of academic and research centers, health agencies and social movements in the region that, through cooperation and interdisciplinary work, promote actions to contain the scourge of antibiotic-resistant infections.

This year, the network made a call to the general public and to university students in particular with the theme "Let's count our Bac-historias", which looked for current problems such as the abuse of antibiotics and the value of ancestral medicine, among others, they will find the form of stories through stories, essays and audiovisual material.

A committee chose the two best stories that were written by the student Sebastián Carrasco, of the School of Social Communication, and Maryury Mendoza, student of the School of Tourism, both of the UDA.

The two winners traveled to Rosario, Argentina, to present their work, since the "Let's count our Bac-historias" campaign was an essential part of the first intercontinental meeting "Mother Earth, a single health" that took place in that Argentine city of 12 to the 16 of June of 2017.

During the act of launching the book, which also brings together other of the stories selected by the jury, Maryury Mendoza read the story to her audience, entitled "La Curandera".

"This work fulfills an essential objective, to rediscover the heart of science. The search for a greater truth, starting from a sensitization and starting from perceptions and from that which captures the heart, is capable of transforming it later in qualitative analysis, thoughts and also in ideas and materialize in generations of scientific evidence ", concluded Arturo Quizhpe, coordinator of React.
