The UDA and the French Alliance presented photographic work

On July 7, the University of Azuay and the French Alliance presented the book "In the name of the Father", by the author Florent Tribalat.

"In the name of the Father" is a photographic and philosophical project, which portrays 52 families in a geographical tour that covers the four regions of Ecuador, carried out between 2013 and 2020.

A literary work that captures the history between families that are apparently disconnected from each other, due to their geographical origin, their social condition or their personal history, but with a cultural background that shows that they are connected by an invisible, fundamental and founding thread. , which exhibits a certain shared vision of the world and the same longing for eternity.

The event was attended by the Rector of the University of Azuay, Francisco Salgado; Martha Cobos, Academic Vice Chancellor; Antoine Lissorgues, Director of the French Alliance in Cuenca, and Florent Tribalat, author of the work.

The Rector welcomed the event by mentioning that this work not only contains photographs and literature, but also has ethnography: stories that narrate the experiences of generations that share not only the father's name but also a life story.

Likewise, Salgado stated that the ethnographic vision that the author presents with beautiful images is also a rescue of our identity in the country.

For Martha Cobos, the book goes beyond reading, as it is easily connected with feelings through the photographs that captured realities and expectations that are intertwined with the reader's own experiences.

Likewise, the Academic Vice Chancellor explained that in Ecuador there is still a patriarchal tradition of name transmission that in France has already disappeared, a tradition of any social class that seeks to maintain power through affiliation that shows transgenerational relationships.

Finally, for the author it is a photography and philosophy project about that particular tradition and heritage in Ecuador: transmitting the name of the father to his son, from generation to generation.

Finally, the director of the French Alliance invited everyone to be part of the cultural agenda crossed with the University of Azuay, activities that promote publication.

The book "In the name of the Father" is available for sale at the Alliance Française.
