The UDA presents its first doctorate in conjunction with the University of Cuenca

A project that has been worked on for about two years was presented in order to respond to the contemporary environmental crisis.

The doctorate in Natural and Renewable Resources is the first to be offered by the University of Azuay, thanks to the agreement managed between the UDA and the University of Cuenca.

Within the curriculum there are three lines of research, the first deals with water resources, the second on energy management and the third covers the various edges of biodiversity.

This project initially has a research master's degree from the UDA, which gives continuity to the doctorate from the University of Cuenca.

The most notable characteristic of this doctorate is the quality of being semi-structured, which implies the absence of cuts, therefore, the student can start their doctoral studies at any time. To keep dates organized, the first call will be socialized at the end of October of the current year.

The doctoral program lasts four years and is face-to-face. Both educational institutions have committed to providing facilities in scholarships and financing plans. Among the requirements to access the doctorate are to have a master's degree, and to carry out a three-month preparatory study in the case of people with a master professionalizing.

"We hope to have around six candidates to carry out the doctorate program for each university, because we have the expectation of obtaining relevant research in their subject areas," said Mateo Coello, Director of Postgraduate Programs at the University of Azuay.
