The UDA positions Ecuador in the global academic elite
On December 18, the University of Azuay delivered institutional jackets, as well as Ecuadorian flags, to students who will travel to semester programs and short stays abroad between January and June 2026. This event aligns with the principle of care that guides our university and the Sustainable Development Goals: Goal 4, Quality Education, and Goal 17, Partnerships for the Goals.
The event was attended by authorities, teachers, administrative staff, students from our university community and the general public.
In his welcoming remarks, Francisco Salgado, Rector of the University of Azuay, congratulated the 104 students who will be traveling to various destinations around the world to continue their studies next semester. He emphasized that this "is a hallmark of the university, fulfilling its mission to enable young people to flourish. To flourish, one must be in the right environment, and now more than ever, it is essential that we understand other cultures, other worldviews, and other ways of life."
The students who will be going to universities in the following destinations in the coming days: Chile, United States, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Turkey, Czech Republic, Belgium, Sweden, Germany, Portugal, Italy and Spain, thus positioning the University of Azuay even further on a world-class level.
Subsequently, institutional jackets and flags were handed out to the students who will be traveling abroad.
To conclude the event, Marcelo Calle, director of the Department of International Relations at the University of Azuay, said, “Today is a very special day, as 36 universities from 15 countries will be hosting our students, and that undoubtedly fills us with pride and excitement. You are winners of these programs because you have demonstrated academic excellence, personal commitment, discipline, and values. It is the result of your constant effort, your late nights of studying, your responsible decisions, and your belief that you can always go further.”
He wished them success in their stays at the host universities and invited them to feel proud of representing their institution, their culture and their traditions.
